Kathleen Turner

Lena spent her time with us spreading love, joy, sarcasm, and sass to any and all around her. Her life would seem too short to many, but those of us who were Blessed to be touched by her understand that her existence and the imprint she left on our hearts exceed the quantity of time that she stayed here.

Lena was one of nine siblings born to Charles and Wilhelmina Robinson on March 5, 1941 in Washington, DC.

In her youth, Lena attended DC public schools and was very athletic. She considered herself a tomboy and enjoyed playing sports with her siblings, cousins, and friends. Lena graduated from Eastern High School in 1957 and then went on to attend Margaret Washington School of Nursing where she earned a degree in Nursing. Lena landed a job at Freedman's Hospital in Washington, DC where she worked for several years. She left nursing to work for the DC Department of Recreation where she enjoyed working with preschool aged children.

In 1968, Lena married Clarence Turner.

She later retired from DC Public Schools in 2002. In retirement, her favorite pastimes included playing card games, spending time with family, shopping, and she could always be found playing solitaire, reading the newspaper or watching "her show".

Lena was predeceased in death by her husband Clarence, her parents, Charles, and Wilhelmina; Three of her brothers Joseph "Joe", Alfred "Butch", Melvin "Skip"; Her three sisters Deborah, Delores "Tudy" and Carolyn.

Lena is survived by her loving children, William "Moe" and Evelyn Berry, Carolyn "Pumpkin" Holloway and Gwendolyn "Krickett" Berry; Her brothers, Leroy "Nicky" and Charles "Notchie" Robinson; Her sister in laws, whose friendship from a very young age was cherished, Marilyn "Cookie" and Linda; Her grandchildren Tekiba, Tylema, Tyeshia, Mysha, Donalyn, Tiara and Robert; 14 great grandchildren, two great- great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and few close friends.

A beautiful, loving, and comforting woman until the very end, rest in peace.
