Larry was a devoted husband to his beloved wife of 59 years, Gail Jaffrey, a loving father to Lynette Palmer (and her husband Robert) and Kent Jaffrey (and his wife Andrea), a proud grandfather to Nathan Palmer (and his wife Helena) and Rebecca Palmer, and a delighted great-grandfather to Lily.
For over four decades, Larry served as a Christian missionary to the Jewish and Middle Eastern communities through Chosen People Ministries, Middle East Ministries, and Light to Israel. His greatest passion was sharing the message of salvation through Jesus Christ, helping Christians understand the Jewish roots of their faith, and building bridges through love and truth. A gifted and dynamic speaker, he often traveled to churches throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, teaching and inspiring others.
Although Larry’s original career path began with a degree in animal husbandry and dreams of running his own dairy farm, his call to full-time ministry ultimately shaped his life. Even so, he never lost his love for the land. At the family’s longtime home in Virginia, he created a cherished “mini-farm” where he found joy working outdoors, cultivating a large garden, and caring for a variety of animals including chickens, cows, and goats. Known as a skilled handyman and true “Mr. Fix-It,” Larry was always eager to lend a hand, solve a problem, and just get things done.
Larry will be remembered as the consummate example of a Christian man—faithful, humble, and deeply committed to living out his beliefs each day. He never met a stranger, and his outgoing nature, warmth, and generosity left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Above all, he cherished his family, treasuring every moment spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 27 at 11 am at Centreville Baptist Church (15100 Route 29, Centreville, VA 20120) followed by a time of fellowship and light refreshments.
