Laurence Wilford Arnold was born on September 9, 1941, in Washington, DC and passed away on October 10, 2023, in Largo, MD with his wife of 56 years, Sheila H. Arnold, and his son, Patrick, by his side. He was the only child of the late Jim and Etta Arnold. Larry grew up in Washington, DC, where he was graduated from Spingarn High School. He attended Saint Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, VA and received a degree in General Science with Chemistry minor in 1965. After college Larry was employed at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, where he served with distinction for over 30 years until his retirement.
He was predeceased by his daughter Erica Rachelle Arnold. In addition to his wife and son, he is survived by his son-in-law Keith Lester, brother-in-law Harold Henderson, Jr (Franzine), nieces Kimberly Jonhson (Mark) and Jessica Boyd, nephew Harold Henderson III (Nancy), and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service for Laurence will be held Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Ave, Silver Spring, Maryland 20904, followed by a repast following service at 12:00 PM.
