We invite you to celebrate the life of Margaret Louise Porter (maiden name Matthews). Margaret was born on February 26, 1940, in Baltimore Maryland. The daughter of George Frank Matthews and Helen Roberta Matthews (maiden name Gauss). Margaret was one of ten children. All nine of her siblings have previously passed away. Margaret graduated from Southern High School. She worked at Harbor Hospital in the dietary department and Martones Cleaners, until she retired. In retirement, Margaret became bored and went back to work at The Baltimore Maritime Museum in the Baltimore Inner Harbor. Margaret, our mother, sold tickets at the ticket booth. she really enjoyed working in the ticket booth, meeting people from all walks of life.
Margaret was an avid reader. She loved reading novels, both fiction and non-fiction. She loved to watch and collect movies. Margaret enjoyed singing Karaoke. Patsy Cline was her favorite.
On occasion she would go out and enjoy her favorite alcohol drinks, White Russian or vodka and cranberry juice.
Margaret was a very strong independent woman who raised six children by herself.
Margaret's children are: Mitzi Porter, Vicky Barnes, (The late) Mindy Parks, (The late) John Porter, (The late) Jill Porter, and Samantha Williams. Son-in-laws: Howard Barnes, (The late) Craig Parks Sr., and David Williams. Grandchildren: Steve & his wife Christina Porter, Frederick Gibson & fiancé Rahquel Humes, Henry Zientek
Bryan & his wife Letitia Porter, Tiffany Barnes, Craig Parks Jr., Tiffany Porter, Brian Brehm Jr., Brandon Porter-Williams & fiancé Jasmine Majano. Great-grandchildren: Steven Porter, Jon Porter, Braylin Gibson, Bruce Gibson, Bryan Porter Jr., Desiree Barnes, Eric Horton, Kayden Horton, Madilyn Parks, Jrue Allen, Briana Brehm, Tyler Weaver, and Isabella Porter-Williams.
The world is a sadder place without our mother Margaret in our lives. Margaret touched each and every one of us, and she leaves us with memories we will cherish forever.
