Morallina Fanwar George was born March 7, 1957, in Shillong, India, as a member of the Khasi tribe. She was the eldest of 10. She spent her early years in Cherrapunjee, in the foothills of the Himalayas before moving to Pune, India, for middle and high school. She earned a Bachelor's degree from Spicer Memorial College in 1978.
In 1980, Morallina moved to Michigan, where she earned her Masters degree in English and met her future husband, Clifford George. She was quickly recruited by the World Bank and moved to Washington, D.C. in 1981. She worked in numerous and diverse units of the Bank and served as the Chair of the Staff Association before retiring in 2014. Morallina became a US citizen in 2020, 40 years after she first came to the United States.
Morallina raised three children, Alina, Marissa, and Elliot, in Silver Spring, Maryland. They were her pride and joy.
The Celebration of Life for Morallina Fanwar George will be held on January 24, 2026 at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, located at 11800 New Hampshire Ave, Silver Spring, Maryland, 20904.
A memorial gathering will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
A memorial service will follow at the same location from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, and will be live streamed.
A reception with light refreshments will take place from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the same venue.
