1955 to Benito Gonzales Sr and Soledad Gonzaga. He was the youngest of the 7 children and the remaining 3 older siblings are Benito Gonzales Jr from Cape Coral, Florida, Nilo Gonzales in Bowie, Maryland and Merly Gonzales-Cagnayo in the Philippines all with their respective families.
Nemie had 4 years of Nursing in the Philippines before coming to the US in 1979. He worked as
Phlebotomist at Holy Cross Hospital before working at the US Postal Services as Mail Carrier for 30 years where he retired in 2016.
Back in 1982, Nemie applied for the US Navy and he was called for training in Texas but that was the year he met Jane and the call for the Navy was totally forgotten after that.
Jane was working as Registered Nurse at Howard University Hospital when they met through the
introduction of Nemie's best friend, Buddy Pablo. They got married August 20, 1983 and were
blessed with two sons, Justin and Jamie and one grandson, Kai.
During their marriage, Nemie and Jane loved to travel together. They traveled all over Europe,
the Middle East, Mexico and the Philippines. They were like two halves of a whole, where Nemie
was, Jane was there and where Jane was, Nemie will definitely be there too.
Since 2004, their travels not only focused on the cultural and historical places but mostly to Marian
and Biblical sites in Europe, Mexico and the Philippines, including the Holy Land. This started their
Spiritual Journey together especially for Nemie. The last trip they were together was September 2022 when they visited Medjugorje and proceeded to Oberammergau to watch the once every ten years Passion Play for the second time. Last April 2023, they also went to Wisconsin to visit the Our Lady of Good Help which was later renamed, Our Lady of Champion, the first approved Marian apparition site in the United States.
Nemie and Jane were also one of the core groups who initiated the 2000 Hail Marys Devotion every
First Saturday of the month since 2005. Nemie had grown spiritually and has opened a deeper
relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary until his last moment on
September 22, 2023 where he was able to join the Mass and received Holy Communion and Anointing of the Sick with family and friends with him at his bedside before he went to sleep peacefully minutes later to join our Creator.
Jane, Justin and Jamie would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude for all the overwhelming
support and prayers of friends and family during this most difficult time. We thank you all from the
bottom of our hearts. May God continue to bless each one and everyone of you.
