Norman Marc Gurevich, 91, died on April 30, 2025. Only 23 days after his beloved wife of 69 years, Joan. Norman grew up on a farm in rural Montgomery County, attended the University of Maryland, and always had an eye for business. He expanded the scope of Cherry Hill Campcity to meet the needs of tourists coming to Washington DC, and it was Norman’s vision that led the family business to become Cherry Hill Park, a resort campground in College Park, Maryland. Under Norman’s guidance and determination, Cherry Hill Park rose out of a gravel pit to become one of the top outdoor hospitality facilities in the nation.
Norman understood the importance of cooperation and team building on a macro level. He was a board member for the Maryland Tourism Council, which organized the annual Governor’s Tourism Conference. Additionally, he served on the board and as president for the Prince George’s County Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the Maryland Association of Campgrounds. He worked tirelessly to have businesses work together in pursuit of common goals. Whether that was local, regional or national, he believed in collaboration. He was an early proponent of the National Campground Association, and received one of their highest honors for support of the industry.
Norman and Joan worked together, traveled together, and enjoyed their family and friends together. They developed communities everywhere, through the family business, through their industry connections, through their extended families and through their many friends.
Norman is survived by his children Mike (Linda), Sharon Resnick (Bob), and Gerry (Lisa Beavers). His grandchildren Jennifer (Evelyn), Tracy (Chris), Michelle, Carolyn, Rachel, and Sofia. His great grandchildren Isabella, Jackson, and Nina. His sister Marcia Sandground, and many nieces and nephews.
