After graduating from George Washington University, Paula dedicated her professional career to public service. She held positions at the U.S. Department of Energy and the Office of Personnel Management, where her commitment to helping people left a lasting impression.
Paula was a devoted daughter and sister whose love for books was as boundless as her imagination. Her passion for reading was infectious—she could often be found with a novel in hand and a recommendation ready for anyone who asked. Even when her eyesight no longer allowed her to read as she once did, her love for stories never waned.
Those who knew Paula will remember her as spirited and inquisitive—a natural storyteller with an uncanny ability to find humor even in life’s most trying moments. Her compassion and friendliness made her a magnet for conversation. It was often said that by the end of a metro ride into work, Paula would know everything about the stranger sitting next to her—their family history, hobbies, even their salary. Her curiosity wasn’t nosy; it was genuine interest paired with a reporter’s instinct and a friend’s heart.
Her sense of humor was legendary among those close to her. Whether facing everyday challenges or more serious trials, Paula had a way of lightening the moment with a perfectly timed anecdote.
In honor of Paula’s memory and generous spirit, donations may be made to the American Kidney Fund, Caring Matters, or by planting trees in her name—each a fitting tribute to someone who gave so much of herself to others.
A funeral service will be held for her at United Hebrew Cemetery at 122 Arthur Kill Road in Staten Island, New York on the afternoon of Friday, August 15th.
May Paula Sue Greenberg’s memory bring comfort and inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
