It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Jackson, who left us on November 25, 2024. Robert lived a purposeful life of 80 years filled with compassion, service, and an abiding respect for all.
Remembered fondly for his kindness and inclusivity, Robert passionately advocated for a more accepting world, teaching us to treat each others equitably and justly. He led by example with his consistent volunteer efforts, which touched numerous lives. He championed for LGBTQ rights, gun control, offered his services to Neighbor Rides, and devoted time to tutoring middle school students. In addition to his advocacy work, Robert enjoyed singing, photography, traveling to new places, and maintaining a physically active lifestyle. His involvement in various choirs provided tremendous fulfillment throughout his life.
Robert was a loving spouse to Betty Jackson for 52 years. Robert and Betty enjoyed extensive travel throughout their marriage. They cherished living in Columbia, Maryland and supported its civic values. He is survived by his two children, Keith Jackson of Charlottesville, Virginia and Debra Jackson of Burtonsville, Maryland.
A memorial service to honor Robert's remarkable life will be held on February 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM at 7246 Cradlerock Way, Columbia, MD 21045. In lieu of flowers, a legacy contribution may be made to the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Columbia Maryland. We invite you to join us in celebrating his life, and the many ways he has enriched ours and countless others.
