Robert Eugene (“Gene”) Stark, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at the Casey House (Montgomery Hospice) in Rockville, MD. He was the son of the late Minnie and John Robert Stark. He was preceded in death by his sister & best friend, Elizabeth Frances Mahmot. Survived by his nephews Jeffer Mortiza Mahmot Jr., and Ronald Eugene Mahmot. Born and raised in Washington D.C. then Lanham, MD where he lived in the same home for 60 years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952 to 1954. Mr. Stark retired in 2003 as a VP in the Folger Nolan Fleming Douglas Brokerage Firm where he worked for 53 years. In his heyday, Mr. Stark enjoyed playing cards, horseshoes, ping pong, billiards, and excelled in Duck Pin Bowling and Fastpitch Softball playing on numerous teams with family and friends in Washington DC and PG County leagues.
In retirement he enjoyed taking trips with family, following the stock market, and watching sports on TV. He liked the Washington Capitals and loved the Nationals. Mr. Stark & his sister shared the adventures of daily life finding joy, friendship, and no holds barred doting. When his sister could no longer live by herself due to advancing dementia, Mr. Stark brought her in to his home where she was able to thrive for another 2 years.
Our Uncle Gene was a gentleman. He was kind, considerate, fun loving, and independent. We will miss him.
Friends may call at the Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20904 on Monday, April 25th from 10AM to 11AM. The service will follow immediately after. Interment Ft. Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg, RD, Brentwood, MD.
