Ronald Jeffrey Stanfield

Ronald Jeffrey Stanfield was born December 14, 1943 in Washington, D.C. to the late Anne Wort Stanfield Smyth and Arthur C. Stanfield. He was also predeceased by step-father Thomas Smyth. He passed away peacefully in the early morning of February 23, 2026. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Delana Singer Stanfield, his daughters, Jennifer R. Stanfield Molinari (Steven Molinari), Michelle Elise Stanfield, grandsons Joshua A. Molinari and Jason G. Molinari, sister-in-law Joan S. Spicknall-Mahey (Tyler), niece Lisa Spicknall Fruth (Frank), nephew Richard Spicknall (Tonja), cousins Judy Wort Pederson, Bill Wort, and Jon Wort.

Ron graduated from Northwood High School, The University of Maryland, College Park, then University of Maryland Medical School in 1969. He subsequently completed a 3 year residency plus a fellowship in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1975 he returned with his wife and infant daughter to Maryland and worked at the Baltimore Veterans Administration Hospital for 1 year before joining a private radiology practice, Peterson, Golub & Beasley where he remained as partner until joining American Radiology Services. He was elected and served as President for the American Radiology Association for several years before retiring from practice in 2011. He worked at Maryland General Hospital for many years along with ARS offices in the Baltimore area and later at Bon Secours Hospital. He was highly respected and sought after for his unique training in interventional radiology.

Ron's many interests included a love of music, mastery of the clarinet as a member of both his high school and college marching bands, ROTC in college, avid long-distance bike riding, woodworking, astronomy, and history. Ron was an expert on cars of all kinds, home repairs, and the latest technology to the point that people sought his advice on purchases. Ron especially loved family trips to the beach, family gatherings and socializing with friends.

Ron was fervently devoted to his wife and 2 daughters, 2 dogs and 2 cats, along with his extended family and his career. He was highly respected, loved and cherished by all family, friends and colleagues. He was a brilliant, beautiful, witty, caring soul who modeled courage, kindness and respect for all. He will forever live in our hearts.

Funeral Service will be held at The Oakland Mills Meeting House, 5885 Robert Oliver Place, Columbia, MD 21045 on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at 11am with burial to follow.
