I am thankful today; that I have memories of one of greatest; who ever walked this earth. Thaddeus H.D. Crutchfield Jr...AKA Unk... Whether it is a memory of one of our first encounters...He changed my brakes...Or whether it's a memory of his joy; when I caught my first striped bass...or whether it was he and I chilling in the backyard having a beer  on father's day...Either memory will work today and either way I am thankful...Thank you God for setting me on the path; of meeting one of your greatest , who ever walked this earth... Peace be with us all; who may still be struggling; with the loss. He's with us in spirit... Through this message he sends his love.

WHAT I KNOW ABOUT,  "JR."  Thaddeus H. D. Crutchfield, Jr.:
    I know he loved and adored his wife Paula.
    I know he loved his "man child" Tee, grandson Dayvid, daughter-law   April., & LOL, his  4 legged children Smokey, Missy, Chachi,
Ebony, & Rock.
    I know he was crazy about & loved his parents, brothers & sisters.
    I know JR's faith was strong in the Lord, loved his pastor & church family.
    I know he loved his nieces, nephews, family members & good friends. (had a special bond with them all).
    I know he was a hard working man & a great provider.
    I know Jr, was down to earth,  very giving
    I know he enjoyed fishing, hunting, entertaining family/friends at cookouts at his home, going to Cabarets "back in the day"
    I know he enjoyed grilling fishing, chicken, beef,  and having family/fiends taste & lick their lips, & ask for more,  as he would grin/smile as he told them lol,  that the delicious sauteed meat they had just ate was  deer, squirrel ,possum, raccoon,  crocodile, sneak, frog.... 
    I know Jr. thoroughly enjoyed his travels to Jamaica, New Orleans, Deep Creek, Cruise to Caribbean Islands, with Paula & friends.
   I know he enjoyed talking, laughing, meeting new people & taking you back down his "Memory Lane".
   I Know he became ill, and fought a good fight, until God called him home.
   I Know Jr. is in his "Heavenly Home" with angels, love ones, & friends, he is no longer in pain, he is "Resting In Peace".
  I know Jr. is connecting spiritually from above with his wife "Paula" comforting her, talking with her, loving her, encouraging her, holding her and telling Paula he is OK and that she will be OK too.
 I know like many others, I will truly miss JR.  and I am so glad to have known him, 
  I know I will have "My Memories" to hold on too, which will make me "Laugh & Smile" as I say, " What a Good Person he was,"  - My sincere condolences and prayers to my BFF, Paula, the entire  family and friends.   Troy Sears   
    
    

 When I close my eyes and think of you, I think of strength and love. You expressed your love for your family in such a unique way, but it wasn’t until I became a teenager that all of the talks I heard sunk in.  Unc, you taught me lessons that you never even knew you were teaching me.  I remember countless days and nights listening to you talk to my brothers and cousins about life and manhood.  I was as confused as they were when you were talking but boy am I grateful for those talks today because the lessons always showed up, and because of all that I heard, I was always ready. Thank you for loving my auntie unconditionally.  Thank you for accepting me and my siblings as yours. 
You were definitely a second father to all of us and no-one would have ever known we were not all your children. I am grateful for the CRAZY, FUN memories of coming to spend the summer with you, auntie and T.  I remember spending my entire school years looking forward to the summertime so I could come to Maryland with you guys. The days will be weird without you physically being here, but because I believe in LOVE and LIFE, I believe you will never completely leave us. Something about you and your strength prepared me not to be sad today.  I will celebrate you in my own way and when the time comes, I will be sad in my own way as well. Until you come to visit me, I’ll save all my thoughts. I love you Unc.  Please tell Dwight, my daddy and granddaddy I love them. P.S. ya’ll please behave (smile).  ~Lenci

Tee, Paula and Family.   My sincere Condolences 💐 

It was sad to hear of the passing of a great man Junior.  Had the opportunity to live right next door and was privileged to have experienced Junior's wisdom and workmanship as a man. He was a mentor to me by just watching how he operated with the family, his yard, cars, hunting, fishing. As a Black young man you don’t see many men like him to learn from. Junior will always be remembered in my life and respected as a great Man.  May he rest in Power! Peace and blessings unto him. You will be missed my good friend. ✨👑✨

Junior, I am so glad I always told you I love you and what a great brother n law you were. Thank you for truly loving my sister. You were such a great role model to many. You showed our boys & men how to treat girls & women and girls & women how they should be treated. You were not only an awesome father to Tee and a wonderful grandad to Dayvid, but to many others who looked up to you. I'm really going to miss the weak jokes that I always laughed at out of love and respect for you. God saw you were getting tired and a cure was not to be, so HE put HIS arms around you and whispered "Come to Me".  Although God changed your address and I am no longer able to see you, I thank you for the many wonderful memories I am able to revisit. Thank you Junior, for always being you. I love and miss you. Sister n law forever!

I met "Crutch" during my last tour of duty at III MAF, Vietnam in 1970. During that association I came to realize that Crutch was truly a real person. What you saw with this brother was what you got, but underlying a seemingly hard edge was a soft heart and most inquisitive mind.
 He was amongst a cadre of us who returned to the D.C. area and stayed in touch with each other ever since.  Even as I left the D.C. area, whenever I got back there numerous times over the years I would have to catch up with Crutch, and if not, find out how he was doing from the other brothers.  I was always enthralled by his fishing tales. I'm really going to miss trying to catch up with him.
My condolences to the family and friends.

I met Thaddeus Crutchfield Junior around 1999-2000. I started dating his niece; now my wife Valencia. Me and Thaddeus Jr had an instant connection. I called him Unk and he called me Nephew; a bond that will last through eternity. Me and Unk shared many moments from fishing, going to ameteur boxing matches or just hanging out at the house shooting the breeze. All of those memories I will hold onto dearly. I know that life doesn't promise us tomorrow. I am surely grateful for those days; that I got to spend with my Unk. I do know that being a man of God; my Unk is enjoying his promise. May the Lord bless, us who are waiting for our day in glory; the strength to keep moving forward, as I know Unk would want for us.
