Valarie Denise Scudder, age 52, of Greenbelt, Maryland passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at home after a courageous 5-year battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Frank Scudder of Greenbelt and they celebrated their 30th anniversary on June 14th of this year.
Valarie was born in Borger, Texas on July 31. 1967 where she also grew up. She was the daughter of Dorothy Walker and Frank Sherels.
Valarie worked as a teacher at the Maya Angelou Academy at New Beginnings in Laurel, Maryland where she had countless friends before she left in 2018 due to her illness. She met her husband Frank while a flight attendant for American Airlines. After leaving the airline, she devoted her life and career to teaching less advantaged children.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Walker, leaving to mourn her are her husband, Frank, and her two children, Chase and Alexa Scudder as well as Alexa's two-year old twin granddaughters, Aubree and Aspen. Valarie also leaves behind her brother, Raymond Charles Walker of Houston, Texas and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and family members.
Valarie was an incredible person who loved spending time with her newborn twin granddaughters. She also loved to travel with her husband and children. She enjoyed cooking, reading and simply spending time with her friends and family.
At Valarie's request, the memorial service will be a private event for immediate family and friends only.
