Victor attended St. Patrick’s College in Calabar for secondary school. There he was known to be one of the best and fastest runners at school, in the state, and in all of Nigeria. While his speed could have taken him far, Victor valued education above all else. Later, with the support of his family and village of Emekuku, he came to the United States for University. Victor pursued his undergraduate and graduate studies Morgan State, Howard University, and American University. It was at American University where he met his partner in life, Claudia. Victor later completed his doctorate at Catholic University, earned his J.D. at George Mason University, and his Masters of Law from the Nigerian Law School after which he became a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
While law was Victor’s chosen profession, his life was enriched by so much more. He was a devoted son, husband, father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and grandfather. Victor was a true partner to Claudia as they lived in the States and overseas while she served on behalf of the State Department. Victor was also a devout Catholic all his life and he believed in supporting his community. He helped many from back home as they came to the States for school and to build a life. When they were stationed overseas and he was not practicing law, Victor found ways to stay in the community. He taught English at the University, helped coached his son’s soccer team, and even took French lessons. For those who knew Victor, they knew those things that had his heart. Victor loved his family, his Nigeria, and American Football, in particular, the Washington Commanders. He also enjoyed other simple pleasures like reading the Washington Post each day, watching MSNBC, and playing his numbers. Victor will be deeply missed.
Victor is survived by his children Catherine, Patricia Sasser (Wyatt), and Lawrence (Tamieko); his grandchildren Cierra, Noah, Pierce, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his life partner of 53 years Claudia, his eldest son Vincent, his brothers Luke, Lambert, Friday, and sisters Teresa, Beatrice, Juliana, Christiana, and Fanny.
The funeral mass and homegoing will be held at the Cathedral of St. Matthew’s the Apostle in Washington D.C. on Friday, December 19, 2025 at 10:00am. The visitation will take place immediately before the service at 9:00am. The service will be followed immediately by a repast. The burial will take place the following day - Saturday, December 20 at 10:00 am at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD
