Mrs. Kapsidelis was the daughter of Anna and Peter Valanidas of Hopewell, Va. She was the sister of the late Thomas Valanidas, Stella Morris, Katherine Baldwin, Evelyn Parker and Ellen Panagos.
She retired from Macy’s after a long career in retail sales. She also worked at Hecht’s, Garfinckel’s and Franklin Simon.
Mrs. Kapsidelis was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Bethesda, and devoted to her faith and family.
Mrs. Kapsidelis was the daughter of a baker and her husband formerly operated restaurants in Maryland and Virginia. Together they created a loving home from which no family member or visitor ever left hungry. They were avid gardeners, and home-grown vegetables were a main attraction from a kitchen in which neither a measuring cup nor a cookbook was ever spotted in use.
Mr. and Mrs. Kapsidelis would have celebrated their 68th anniversary on April 20. As they grew older, Mr. Kapsidelis said it was as if they had known one another since childhood.
Surviving in addition to her husband are her sons and daughters-in-law, Bill Peter and Trish Kapsidelis of McLean, Va., and Thomas Peter and Karin Kapsidelis of Richmond, Va.; grandchildren Peter Bill Kapsidelis of Falls Church, Va.; Katherine Anne Kapsidelis of Austin, Texas; and Alexander Thomas Kapsidelis of New York.
The family would like to thank Isabella Rodriguez for her devotion as a caregiver and loving friend for many years.
A visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, April 4, followed by the funeral at 10:30 a.m., both at St George Greek Orthodox Church, 7701 Bradley Boulevard, Bethesda. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church.
