Winetta Lynn Hodges was born on February 8, 1977 to William and Annette Hodges (her name is a combination of their names). The first of four children, Winetta’s entrance into this world was not without its challenges. She had to remain in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Children’s Hospital for almost a month because she would stop breathing. Her maternal grandfather, Patrick D’Sena would ask his daughter, Annette everyday when “her Royal Highness” was coming home and wanted a run down of her activities that day. When she finally came home, he was so happy to finally meet his princess and gifted her with two large silver dollars that were bigger than her tiny little hands.
Winetta, or “Netta” as she is known to most, was a natural born mother and was always taking care of her 3 siblings, friends and family. Her caring personality helped her make the decision to study nursing at Ryerson University in Canada. After graduating in 2001, she moved back home to Maryland. Netta started off working at Holy Cross Hospital in the Labor and Delivery Unity. Her life then came full circle as she moved over to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, where she helped save so many babies, completing 17 years at the hospital.
In 2003, she met her future husband, Arjun. They were married in 2008 and were blessed with three beautiful sons, Blake 9, Joshua 7, and Dean 2. Her boys were the loves of her life and she would do anything for them. She was often seen carting all three of them, with Dean on her hip, wherever she went.
Netta loved photography and used the little free time she had doing maternity, family, engagement, and baby sessions with her friends and family. Her eye for that perfect shot and creativity earned her popularity as a professional.
On December 26, 2019, Netta was diagnosed with breast cancer. This terrible disease did not take her beautiful soul and she stayed hopeful through all the pain and suffering that she had to ensure. As her body got weaker her faith got stronger.
On November 9, 2020 our beautiful, sweet Netta was taken from this world way too soon. She is survived by her husband Arjun Moses, three children Blake, Joshua and Dean, parents William and Annette Hodges, siblings Marlene, Cristabell and William, in-laws Chellam, Selvi, Indrani, Prithvi, Chittu, Mehul and Deborah and nieces and nephews Nicholas, Ryan, Mikaela, Mason, Emmalyn, William and Delilah.
