

He was born September 6, 1933 in Portland, Maine.
Benjamin married the former Alverna E. Flanders on October 4, 1960 in Skowhegan, Maine.
He entered the U.S. Navy in 1956 where he was a mechanic and boiler repairer on large ships. After the military he continued working as a mechanic for his entire working career. He owned and operated Murray’s Auto Salvage in Athens.
He enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing.
He is survived by his wife Alverna of 49 years of Athens, his four sons; Richard Bunt-Murray and his wife Sharon of Cornville, Clayton Murray of Athens, Randy Murray of Cornville, Bennie Murray of Cornville, one granddaughter Angela Wentworth and her husband Tracy of Clinton, two great-grandchildren; Brittany and Brandon Wentworth of Clinton who were very special to him, two brother in-laws; Lamont Flanders and his wife Joyce of Dexter, Roy Flanders and his wife Robin of Athens, two sister in-laws; Barbara Flanders of Athens, Marietta Marble and her husband Blaine of St. Albans, lifelong friends George Paul and his companion Mary Moore of Waterville, and special friends Jack Kitterage and his wife Veronica of Harmony and Paul Leonas of Hartland.
He was predeceased by two brother in-laws; Raymond and Arthur Flanders, mother in-law Shirley Flanders, and father in-law Allie Flanders.
Viewing hours will be held on Saturday February 13, 2010 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, with funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Mark Tanner officiating.
