Joanne M. Booth, 94, of Norridgewock, passed away on October 30, 2016 at Woodlawn Nursing Home in Skowhegan after a short illness. Her dear friend Jesus was by her side to comfort her and give her peace. He was her precious Savior.
Joanne was born July 26, 1922 in Angola, Indiana the daughter of Harvey E. and Nada Belle Shoup.
She was educated in Angela Elementary School and Angela High School pursuing a business course. She worked as a secretary for many years at several places from Indiana to Florida to Vermont and Massachusetts. She was an excellent bookkeeper.
Joanne married Arthur Booth on February 15, 1941. They were married for 68 years. She lost her dear husband in 2009. They had adopted a daughter, Carol, who also predeceased her, as did her parents and siblings.
On March 30, 1950 both Joanne and Arthur gave their lives to Jesus in Baptism and joined the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was a faithful member of the Norridgewock congregation at the time of her death. Over the years she had enjoyed working with the community services helping people in need. She always wanted to help people less fortunate than herself. She loved to share her faith in Jesus.
Joanne enjoyed sewing and crafts; making beautiful greeting cards; walking, feeding the birds; her houseplants; reading and studying her bible and books; and she especially like to buy “gadgets”, in our family she was known as the “ Gadget Lady”.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, her close friends Martha Howard and Barbara Sidelinger, and many wonderful friends who have done so much to help her in recent months.
Thank you to all of them for the cleaning, driving, shopping and care that each one has done for her. Each one is truly appreciated.
Services will be held at the Norridgewock Seventh Day Adventist Church, Upper Main St., Norridgewock, on Sunday November 13, 2016 at 2 pm. Burial will be held at a later date in Vermont .
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine.
Please do not send flowers that will wither and fade away. Instead, a gift in Joanne’s memory can be made to Riverview Memorial School, 201 Mercer Rd., Norridgewock, Maine 04957
