Martin Delbert Garbe

1942-2016

Skowhegan-Martin D. Garbe, 74, of Skowhegan, passed away at his home in Skowhegan.

He was born in Skowhegan on June 9, 1942, the son of Jack C. Garbe and Amy P. ( Embleton) Garbe.

Marty graduated from Skowhegan High School, class of 1960 and from UMO AAT in Animal Sciences in 1962.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1965.

He worked for Keyes Fiber in Waterville as a Programmer/ Analyst for twenty-eight years. He then went to work for Colby College in Waterville as a Database Programmer and Natural Programmer for seven years.

He enjoyed his gardens, but his life was computers.

He is survived by his best friend Marion Garbe of Canaan, three step children, Randall Mushrow of Canaan, Susan Sullivan and her husband Daniel, of Standish, Julie Whittemore and her husband David, of Winslow, one sister, Sharon Soderberg of Bangor and her significant other, Stephen Manter, several step grandchildren, one niece, Nicole Mandlsohn and her husband, Andrew of Toronto, Canada and five great nieces.

Martin is predeceased by his Mother and Father, one nephew, Troy Soderberg.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine, with the pastor Clayton Blackstone officiating.

Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Canaan.
