With a heavy heart we share the passing of Christopher David Nicholls 74 of Snohomish, Washington on July 2, 2024. Chris fought a 6 month battle against pancreatic cancer. He passed away at his home in Snohomish surrounded by his wife, kids, and sister.
Chris grew up in Woodinville, WA on a farm off Avondale. He was the eldest of his two siblings, Penny A. Nicholls and Nancy J. Nicholls. His parents Dr. Maxwell D. and Mary K. Nicholls owned the Blue Spruce Veterinary Clinic and boarding facility in Redmond. At 17, Chris served in the military 1967-1973 and fought in the Vietnam war 1967-1970. He received 3 medals for his service. During this time he married Karen D. (Nolan) Egenes and was the proud father to Sandra D. Nicholls (Bellevue, WA) and Beau D. Nicholls (Cle Elum, WA).
After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army he purchased a motorcycle shop in Salinas California and raced motorcycles. Then moved back to WA to work on his parents hay farm in Royal City. Chris found his way into the construction world running his own trucking and excavation companies with his wife Kristine. He married Kristine Chorlton (Bellevue, WA) June 18, 1983. They had two children, Jennifer (MacDicken, Snohomish, WA) and Sam Nicholls (Snohomish, WA). They lived in the Monroe/Snohomish area from 1986 to the present. In 1996-2002 the family moved within Monroe to a 115 acre farm raising cattle, quarter horses and making their own hay in the local valleys.
A highlight for Chris was when he had an opportunity in 2004 to perform work at the Marine Corps Base Hawaii-Kanehoe for about a year tearing down old houses and doing the dirt work to build new ones. He took great pride performing this work for his country. Chris enjoyed racing cars and motorcycles, fishing, hunting, farming and animals.
