Clifford Eugene Leblanc, beloved husband, brother, father, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away at age 88 on March 14, 2018, his three daughters at his side in Snohomish, Washington. He was a gentle man, a quiet man and a kind man. From humble beginnings, he went on to a successful career in commercial construction in the states of California, Washington, Arizona and Texas.
Cliff was born on December 27, 1929, in Providence, Rhode Island, to Elzear Leblanc and Ada Goselin. He dropped out of high school at the age of 15 to support his family and work in his grandfather’s grocery store. He joined the Navy at 18 and when his enlistment was up, found himself in California where he met Norma Jean Basinger. The two were married in 1953 and had three daughters, Laurie, Lisa and Teresa. Cliff was, above all, a devoted husband and father to his family. His daughters will forever remember him as a caring man who was always there, spiritually, emotionally, and practically and who believed that his girls could achieve any goal they set for themselves.
Cliff was an accomplished construction engineer and spearheaded many dynamic and innovative projects that changed the face of the US Southwest, East Texas and Washington State. These include the structural steel work for McCarran Airport, early Las Vegas hotels and casinos, the San Diego Convention Center, upgrades to the California Aqueduct, and nuclear power plants in Arizona, Texas and Washington. He was a loyal friend who cultivated many deep relationships and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He left this world blessed by the life he lived and was thankful for those who supported and cared for him as his earthly journey ended and his heavenly journey began. His loving heart and thankful spirit were never more evident than during the last weeks and days of his life.
Cliff is survived by his sister Theresa (Phillips), his daughters Laurie, Lisa and Teresa, 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and loving nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Norma and brothers, Ray and Richard.
