Dan was born in Seattle to parents Valerie & Milton Kennard. They lived in Anacortes where he and his younger brother
Dick Kennard grew up by Dewey Beach. Dan went to Anacortes High School. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America where he earned the highest badge, an Eagle Scout. His education continued at Skagit Valley Community College in pursuit of his Civil Engineering Degree from 1960-1963. He met his wife Cheryl on a Young Adults Cruise for the youth groups.
Dan enlisted in the Army in 1963, married Cheryl on December 28, 1963. Dans tour of duty took him to Germany, where Cheryl followed. Dan & Cheryl had their first daughter Maria, in August of 1965 in Germany. During his service in Germany his younger brother Dick was sent to VietNam for the Army. When they returned to the states, they bought a cute little pink house in Seattle /Skyway area in 1967. They subsequently had 2 more children, Mark in 1968, and Chrissy in 1970. They lived in this same little house for 30 years. In 1997 they moved to Snohomish on Fobes Hill where they currently reside.
After leaving the Army, Dan worked as a Chain Person for the Seattle Parks Department in 1967 doing surveying for the City of Seattle. He became Assistant Survey Party Chief in the Seattle Engineering Department and retired from the City of Seattle after 30 years of service.
Dan enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, hunting, fishing and riding motorcycles. He was a member of the New Hope Fellowship, where he was a Deacon and Elder. He loved animals, snuggling with his cats, teasing his grandchildren, competing for the olives at holiday dinners, and remembering to clean his glasses. He was notorius for having to do his "recon" runs to any event prior to the event so he knew where it was before he got there.
His life was filled with love from his family and friends. He was a man of faith and it was reflected in his everyday life. He always welcomed people to our family. He was always willing to lend a hand. He will be missed by all of us.
