I was just perusing Dave's Facebook page, as I do once in a while.  I am still stunned by his loss, even though it's been 8 years now (he died on my birthdate, as a matter of fact).  Besides being mutual lovers of Randy Stonehill's music, we also shared a number of laughs together. We became fast friends immediately, which seems to be the case with so many others who came into contact with him!  My favorite cartoon of his was one he had while at seminary:  It showed a guy (presumably from North America) who cut up an old bedsheet, saying, "This will make for great bandages for overseas."  The lower frame shows an African who gratefully receives the strips and says, "These strips will make a great bedsheet."  The title of the cartoon:  "Understanding Needs."

That was SO Dave!  Rest in peace, my friend.

David you will be missed, take care my friend.

I only had the pleasure to spend a day with David.  In that day I walked away with a list a mile long of books to read and movies to watch.  I also got to appreciate what a wonderful man he was.  David worked with my husband and he always thought fondly of him.  In fact one day David  asked my husband to discribe our sons to him.  My husband answered..."My boys are Chimps"  a couple of minutes later my husband was presented with a cartoon of the boys.  Eveytime our sons, now adults, pull a "stunt" we smile and look at the cartoon and mumble "chimps"  He was a wonderful man.  Thank you for sharing him with us.  The world was blessed to have him here for a short time.

"Perhaps they are not stars,
But rather openings in Heaven,
Where the love of our lost ones,
Shine down to let us know that they are with us...."

To our precious Juels--Susan, Ezekiel, Hannah, Olivia, and Eden:  We were stunned to hear of the loss of David.  Know that you have friends in East Asia lifting you up in these dark hours.

I knew David through his brother Jeff.  David was a very kind person.  My thoughts and prayers are with his entire family.

David Juel was one of the leads when I use to work for the Helpdesk.  My fondest memories were working the weekend 2nd shift with David as the lead.  We had so much fun cracking jokes, David showing us his awesome cartoon drawings and pigging out on pizza.  David was one of the most descent man I have ever met in my life.  I will forever cherish the moment in time we shared together.  My sincerest condolences to the Juel family for their great lost.

David Juel was one of my first leads at the Boeing help desk.  We had a lot in common and I felt we were good friends.  I had not seen David since I had relocated to Kansas.  I am very sad I was not able to see him again.  I wish the best for his family and I will miss David as a friend.

I am saddened to hear from my mom (Carol Davis) of the passing of David. While it had been a long time since we had seen each other, I always have fond memories of those times we were able to get together, especially for jellyfish fights on Lopez Island. I pray that the promise of the resurrection and the power of the Gospel will give you strength, comfort, and peace.

I've only met David a few times,but i remember how kind he was. Eden called me right after they got home from the hospital and all I could think of was going to see her. My family and I are always thinking of they Juels. We are always praying for them.

I am saddened to hear from my mom (Carol Davis) of the passing of David. While it had been a long time since we had seen each other

We have been shocked to hear the news of David's accident and death.  We remember him, Susan, and their two kids at the time, Ezekiel and Hannah, from the two years they served as our dorm parents in Cameroon, Africa.  David had this quirky, spunky, spontaneous personality that we all came to love.  I remember him jamming worship songs on the guitar as well as the painting and artwork projects he did around the dorm.  We are blessed to have known him, and our hearts and prayers go out now to the rest of the Juel family.

My son came home from school today and told me the sad news of Mrs. Juel's husband. Although we did not know David, we are so sad for his family's loss and for the loss of a life taken much too soon. May you find strength in the love of those around you at this tragic time.

David added a very positive vibe in the work place and during social events. His warm approachable style and a great sense of humor was a breath of fresh air. I am very saddened, but thankful for knowing him.

David was my lead at Boeing in 1999. We used to work on same shift and I had an opportunity to learn about his person life. He is one of the most compassionate, intelligent and hardworking people I ever came across in Boeing. He was a great Christen with Christ like behavior. God bless him and his family.

You were taken too soon my friend but I know you are having the best time walking with our Lord in Heaven.

I'm so glad to have had the chance to see you one more time in person and get a hug and meet your two daughters.

Prayers for comfort to your family and friends and the peace knowing that they will see you again.

I knew David at work.  He was a great guy, a coworker with a great sense of humor and a positive attitude.  Apparently the Lord needed him now, and I look forward to seeing him again in heaven.  He will be missed greatly.

David was a very good man I never got to know him outside work, but David was fair, kind and clearly cared about his fellow human beings. I am sad that the world has lost such a man. I am shocked but I pray and believe that David is with God.

Our world has lost a very bright light...David was intelligent, funny, creative, and an all-around good guy. I'm still in shock and will miss him dearly.  My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

We know that all of David's family will miss him and we are lifting them all up to the Lord. May they cherish all of the good times and great things they shared with him....knowing with confidence that you will see him again!

David had been an active member of Cartoonists Northwest since 2005.  He was most helpful at many events and his good humor and great attitude will be sorely missed.  He often brought one of his kids to a meeting or our Annual Toonie Awards Banquet, which was delightful to see.  David was to help at a comics convention in Seattle on Saturday, instead,we will be remembering him at his service.
