David Niels Juel went quietly to be with his Lord on February 24, 2011. He passed away due to complications following surgery, surrounded by family and friends at Swedish Hospital in Seattle, Washington.
David was born to Dale and Stefania-Gene Juel on July 5, 1964. He graduated from Ingraham High School in Seattle in 1982 and Lutheran Bible Institute (Now Trinity Lutheran College) in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical studies. In 2009 he completed a Master of Arts in Religion from the Lutheran Brethren Seminary in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.
David married Susan Stocker on August 21, 1987 and the Lord blessed them with four wonderful children; Ezekiel (age 21), Hannah (age 19), Olivia (age 14) and Eden (age 11). The Juels served in the African mission field of the Church of the Lutheran Brethren as dorm parents for the LB American School in Cameroon from 1992-1994.
After returning from Africa, David discovered he had a definite aptitude for computer technology and began working for Keane in Seattle as a contract computer help-desk consultant. His training and experience led him to a position with IT Operations for Boeing Company in 1997. David worked with Enterprise Problem Management but his most recent position was with Root Cause Analysis-Trend Analysis.
David loved good discussions about theology and politics. In particular, he was passionate about the Biblical theology of "Law and Gospel". David had a an irrepressible sense of humor. He was a gifted cartoonist, and he thoroughly enjoyed computer graphics, gaming, and movies.
David loved each of his children very deeply. They were a very important part of his life and he spent much time sharing his passions for the Bible, politics, art, and computers with his children. As he passed these interests and his love on to his “band of pirates” (as he used to call them), he also imparted his humor and zest for life.
In addition to his immediate family, David Juel is survived by his mother, his sister Valree (Jeff) Knutson, his brother Chris (Silvia) Juel, his brother Jeff Juel, and by seven nieces and five nephews.
