January 24, 1929 - October 19, 2016
Glenn Vincent Callaghan, of Marysville, WA passed away October 19, 2016. Glenn was born on January 24, 1929 in Aberdeen, Washington.
He is survived by his wife Millie (Kelso) Callaghan, daughter Miriam (Jo), son Jack (Anne), three grandsons, Patrick, Timothy and Sean, brothers William (Bill) and Michael Callaghan, and a very large extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Ruth Callaghan, brothers Thomas and Elmer Callaghan, sisters Peggy Lupo and Genie Cichoski.
Glenn spent his early years moving with his family from Aberdeen, Hillsboro and Portland, Oregon before settling in Everett, Washington on Rucker Hill. He graduated from Everett High School in 1947 1/2. He married Millie Kelso on June 26, 1954 in Snohomish, Washington where they made their home for 46 years.
Glenn was a veteran of the US Army and retired from the Washington DOT at the age of 62. He dedicated hours of his time sharing his love of the outdoors with two Boys Scout troops. Glenn and Millie devoted hours to St Michael's Catholic Church in Snohomish - Glenn was instrumental in running Thursday night BINGO where the proceeds helped support the church. He spent the rest of his life doing the things he loved - traveling, camping, gardening, wood working, cooking and spending time with his family. Glenn was an early "recycler" and there was never a tool he didn't need more of. He could fix or build anything.
Glenn was an inspirational role model to his family and friends on the importance of family, faith and friendship in our lives. We celebrate his memory and the many examples he gave us on how to love and support one another.
May the raindrops fall lightly on your brow
May the soft winds freshen your spirit
May the sunshine brighten your heart
May the burdens of the day rest lightly upon you
And may God enfold you in the mantle of His love.
A Mass will be held Wednesday, October 26 at 10:30 am at St Michael's Catholic Church followed by a luncheon.
The family asks that friends who wish may, in lieu of flowers, make contributions to Seattle Children's Hospital, Pediatric Brain Tumor Research Guild, pbtrf.org, PO BOX 5371 MSC RC-507, Seattle, WA 98145-5005 or your local blood bank.
