

Janet L. Niman, 92, passed away on April 29, 2016, 9 days before her 93rd birthday. She was born May 8, 1923, in Portland, Oregon, to Burt and Dorothy Morse. Her early years and schooling were spent in Portland and Seattle with her two sisters, Adrian and Jo. At nine years of age she moved to Edmonds, Washington, with her father and sisters. She graduated from Edmonds High School in 1941 and went to work at Paradise in Mt. Rainier National Park as a maid.
At Paradise, she met Roger Niman, who also worked there. Janet and Roger were married on Christmas day, 1941. Their daughter Margaret was born in 1943. They lived at Mt. Rainier until Roger was inducted into the Navy in 1943. Janet and Margaret traveled to New York and Boston to be with Roger while he was in his Navy training. While Roger was away in the Pacific with the Navy Janet lived with relatives in various places in Washington and Oregon.
After the war, they moved to Everett and started building the family home in East Everett. Sons Randy and Dan were added to the family in 1946 and 1950. Janet was a homemaker, literally, and active in many areas including Homemakers club, Trinity Lutheran Church, Boy Scouts of America, 4H club, Garden club, quilting, crafts and music. She was a very giving person and had many friends.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband Roger, son Dan and daughter Margaret (Midge). She is survived by her son Randy and his wife Vicki, 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
