

Mary Jane Job, a remarkable woman and committed educator, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2024. Born in 1941 in North Dakota, Mary Jane was the third of eight children and the first-born girl. Her journey was one of unwavering dedication to those she loved.
A woman ahead of her time, Mary Jane began her teaching career at the age of 21 in Noonan, ND. In 1963, she married Dennis Job, the love of her life, and together they built a life full of laughter and family.
She spent her first 25 years as an educator in Pierce County, ND. In her early 40s, Mary Jane returned to college at Minot State University. There, she earned a Master’s degree in learning disabilities. On their 25th wedding anniversary, Mary Jane and Dennis packed up and moved from Rugby, ND to Snohomish, WA, where she began the second part of her educator journey with the Everett School District, retiring after 20 years of service.
In 2002, Mary Jane extended her influence in education by joining City University of Seattle, where she mentored interns and teachers, later becoming a professor in the education department. Her impact on the lives of her students and colleagues was profound, marked by her commitment to nurturing the potential of every individual she encountered.
Known for her infectious laugh, she was an avid reader, a lover of Riesling (three ice cubes), and the Oregon Coast. Mary Jane was not a collector of antiques, but a collector of friends, building relationships that spanned decades. Together, Mary Jane and Dennis opened their home to many people in Alcoholics Anonymous, offering care during their most vulnerable moments, providing a safe place when needed.
A devout Catholic with a progressive approach to social welfare, Mary Jane cared deeply for her family and community. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mary, and her siblings Dennis, Patrick, and Molly. She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Dennis Job, her children Patrick Job (Jaime), Bill Job (Laura), Joan Walters (Chris), and Mary Lasky (Adam), her cherished grandchildren Patrick Ryan, Dylan, Sara, and Jake. Her siblings, Eddie, Kathy, Peggy, and Joan, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She leaves behind a family and community who will forever be inspired by her life. They will be celebrating her life on September 20th, 2024 at 11 am at St. Micheal Catholic Church in Snohomish, WA.
