Allen C. "Nick" Alexander, 90, of Manlius, NY, died peacefully on Thursday, December 10th, 2015 with his wife by his side. Born in Kirkland, Washington, to the late Agnes (Johnson) and Harry Alexander, he achieved his dream of making it in the “Big Apple” through a successful career with communications giant Metromedia.
A graduate in history from the University of Arizona, Nick spent countless hours reading and writing about historical subjects, particularly WWII. Nick was also an avid aviator, guitarist, bicyclist, skier and world traveler. He pondered the universe and imagined heaven to be "where you finally get all the answers." Family and friends will greatly miss Nick's larger-than-life presence.
He is survived by Margaret Archer Garris, his beloved wife of 12 years and her family, daughters, Roxanne Pangallo, and Paula Jachim, and sons Todd and Scott Garris, as well as their families. Nick also leaves his three daughters (with his first wife Lois), Nikki, Barrett and Casey, their husbands and his grandchildren, Alex and Kendall Reicherter.
He is predeceased by his second wife, Julie.
A memorial Mass in Nick's memory will be celebrated at St. Ann's Church in Manlius, NY on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 11 AM. To celebrate Nick’s life, there will be a light luncheon, following the service, in Lynch Hall at St. Ann’s.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to St. Ann’s Church, 104 Academy St, Manlius, NY 13104 or CNYSPCA, 5878 E. Molloy Rd, Syracuse, NY 13211.
