Alpha J. Stanley Jr.

Alpha J. Stanley, Jr., 91, of Syracuse, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Upstate University Hospital at Community General. He was born in Pike County, KY to the late Alpha and Dovie (Gobel) Stanley and was a US Navy Veteran of WW II. He was a self-employed painter for many years before working at the NYS Fairgrounds, where he retired in 1992. He was a past member of the Geddes Veteran’s Association, the Solvay Tigers AC and CYC.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Nancy (Salatte) Tomi Stanley, 2 daughters, Clarissa Bea Stanley, of SC and Melissa Rae (Lee) Hogsten, of Ashland, KY, step-son, Anthony J. (Jeanne) Glinski, Sr, of Solvay, 5 grandchildren, Ryan (Becki) and Joseph Hogsten, both of KY, Anthony, Jr., David (Elise) and Michael Glinski, all of Solvay, 4 great grandchildren, Gabriel and Carlee Hogsten, Jillian and Kendall Glinski, sister-in-law, Amelia Sardella, of Syracuse, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 8:15 am Tuesday, September 23rd at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, and 9:00 am at St. Cecilia’s Church, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Warners. Family and friends may call Monday, September 22nd from 4 to 7 pm at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Avenue.
