Gerda Abbatiello

Gerda Abbatiello, 86, formerly of Syracuse, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 20, 2015 surrounded by her family at Highland Hospital in Rochester. She was born in Poland and was a civilian survivor of World War II.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, James V. “Tippy” Abbatiello, daughter; Victoria Iannettone, of Rochester, son; David (Jill) Abbatiello, of Memphis, 4 grandchildren; Michael A. (Farrah) Iannettone, of Rochester, Christianne (Brandon) McComber, of Webster, Andreanna (Antwon) Ragland, of Rochester and Christine Abbatiello, of Syracuse, 5 great-grandchildren; Nicholas Iannettone, of Gold Canyon, AZ, Nathan, Ryan and Morgan Elizabeth McComber, of Webster and Carmen Renard Iannettone, of Rochester and her longtime dear friend, Nina Hoger.

Funeral services will be held 8:45 am Thursday, September 24, 2015 at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME and 9:30 am at St. Brigid and St. Joseph Church, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum, Dewitt. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 pm Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Avenue.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association of CNY, 441 W. Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204.
