

Sylvia (Castellini) Nicolini, 92, of Solvay, went to be with her husband Monday, January 5, 2015. Sylvia was born in Tyrol, Italy to the late Gelmino and Evelyn (Filosi) Castellini in 1923, immigrating to Solvay with her family at the age of 5. She was employed by Camillus Cutlery for 16 years before retiring in 1958. She was a member of the Solvay Tyrol Club Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Post 2893 Ladies Auxiliary, Solvay Seniors and was a longtime communicant of St. Cecilia’s Church. Sylvia was predeceased by her husband, Modesto in 2014.
She is survived by her son, Arthur, of Solvay, 2 sisters, Lucy Scaia, of Solvay and Louise Leonardi, of Fairmount, 2 brothers, Ferman Castellini, of Syracuse and Joseph Castellini, of Solvay, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services are 8:15 am Friday, January 9, 2015 in BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Ave., and 9 am at St. Cecilia’s Church, 1001 Woods Rd., where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Onondaga County Veteran’s Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
