Veronica E. Zappala, 57, of Solvay, passed away Sunday at home surrounded by family and friends. Born in Solvay, she was a life resident of Solvay. She was a 1972 High Honor Society graduate of Bishop Ludden High School and was awarded a scholarship to attend Potsdam College. She later attended and graduated from OCC where she was the recipient of the Curriculum Honors Award for Business Administration AS and was a member of its Phi Theta Kappa honor society. Ronnie was the president of Pug Rescue of CNY, a member of Bulldog Rescue of America, the National Who’s Who in Women’s Business and was a NYS Notary. Ronnie was employed as a Financial Analyst for MONY of downtown Syracuse for 27 years.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Michael, her 2 children; Micha and Anthony (Katherine), all of Solvay, a granddaughter; Victoria, mother; Betty Demperio, of Solvay, father; Carmen Demperio, Sr, of Westvale, 2 sisters; Cheryl Demperio, of Solvay and Susan (Walter) Gonzalski, of Camillus, a brother; Carmen (Jeanne) Demperio, Jr, of Solvay, her mother-in-law; Rose Zappala, of Solvay and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9:15 am Wednesday in BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME and 10 am in Holy Family Church, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Private entombment will be in St Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum, DeWitt. Calling hours are from 4 to 8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home 2601 Milton Ave., Solvay.
