Gary S. Soares

Born in Bossier City, LA, a son of Richard A. Soares of Dartmouth and Diane (Penoy) Silvia and her husband Ron of Westport, he was a graduate of Bishop Connolly High School, Class of 1975 and SMU-now UMass Dartmouth, 1979 and had lived in Swansea since 1990.

Mr. Soares worked for the Government as an Internal Revenue Service Agent for 30 years, retiring in 2012 and was a Certified Fraud Examiner. An avid fly fisherman, he was a member of the VISE Squad, the Rhody Fly Rodders, and a former member of the Colonial Navy.

Surviving in addition to his wife, parents and step-father: 6 children, Timothy Soares of Fall River, Kimberly Gervais and husband Michael of CT, Kathryn Landy and husband Kenneth of Somerset, Jean LaBonte and husband Gregory of Tiverton, Lee Stanish of CO, Jacob Stanish and his husband Lowell Navarro of North Reading, MA, a sister: Vicki Shield and husband William of Mansfield, ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two nieces.

His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 1:30 PM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT ROSE E. SULLIVAN, 866 County Street, Somerset. His family will greet friends Saturday from 10 AM -1:30 PM prior to his Service. Burial Private. Memorial contributions may be made to Casting for Recovery, P.O.
