

George Charves, age 70, of Somerset, died Sunday, August 17, 2014 in the Good Samaritan Medical Center. He was the husband of Geraldine M. (Pires) Charves to whom he has been married for the past 51 years.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late Louis and Eileen (Costa) Charves, he had been a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Charves was a truck driver for United Van Lines for 48 years before retiring in 2008.
In addition to his wife he is survived by four daughters: Christine Corey, Lisa Charves, and Sarah Harper and her husband Floyd all of Somerset, Georgi Charves of Westport, four brothers: Louis Charves of Somerset, Lawrence Charves of Van Buren, AR, Ronald Charves of Fall River, Joseph Charves of Fall River, four sisters: Delores Carpenter of Dighton, MA, Eileen Carpenter of Swansea, Patricia Nannery of Marlborough, MA, Theresa Sawyer of Townsend, MA, fifteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Hilda Springer and Cecelia Charves.
His Funeral will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 10AM in St. Patrick’s Church, 306 South St., Somerset. Relatives and friends invited. Contributions in his honor may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472. Burial private. Arrangements are in the care of Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Rose E. Sullivan, Somerset.
