Ronald E. Geary, “Ron,” age 78, of Somerset, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 30, 2026, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Throughout his 22-year journey, his unwavering positivity and strength were a constant source of admiration for his family. He was the devoted and loving husband of Patricia (LePage) Geary, with whom he shared 36 years of marriage, partnership, and friendship.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late George M. and Anita (LeBlanc) Geary, he lived in Fall River for many years prior to moving to Somerset in 1992. He worked at Dartmouth Building Supply for 25 years prior to his retirement in 2012. Together with his wife, they proudly owned Patti’s Pierogis in Fall River.
Ron was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. A devoted motorcyclist and true Harley-Davidson enthusiast, he found joy and freedom on the open road, completing two cross-country rides as a long rider. An avid cribbage player, Ron loved playing cards with his buddies and spending time at the casino. He loved watching the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. He cherished time with his family and friends, his beloved dogs, and cruising around in his golf cart. Ron also had a generous spirit-he successfully organized the Dartmouth Building Supply Poker Run for cystic fibrosis, raising more than $75,000 for the cause.
The family would like to thank the oncology team and nursing staff on the fourth floor at Charlton Memorial Hospital for the compassionate care they provided to Ron over the years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Ronald E. Geary, Jr. and his companion Kelly Furtado of Fall River; stepson, Robert Wing and his wife Jennifer of Swansea; brother, Peter Geary of NY; five grandchildren, Lucas, Elise, Jason, Lauren, Nathan and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was the stepfather of the late Jennifer Faith Wing and brother of the late Mike Geary, John Paul Geary and Ray Geary.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 10:00AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Rose E. Sullivan, 866 County Street, Somerset followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00AM at St. Thomas More Church, 386 Luther Ave., Somerset. Relatives and friends are invited.
