Born on November 23, 1966, in Asheville, NC, Vanessia was the cherished daughter of the late Frederick and Shirley (Crow) Hill. In 1969, the Hill family relocated to Boston, where Vanessia would grow up and plant deep roots in the community she loved.
Affectionately known as “Nessa” or simply “V,” she stepped into a position of strength and grace at an early age after the passing of her mother. Becoming the matriarch of her family, she became a mother figure to her brothers, Denson “Deke” Hill and the late Fred “Sugar” Hill, embodying responsibility well beyond her years.
Vanessia devoted much of her professional life to serving others in the healthcare field. She held positions at Boston Children's Hospital, Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates, and faithfully served for over 20 years at Dimock Community Health Center. Most recently, she worked at Comeback Physical Therapy, beginning in 2023, where her warmth and compassion continued to touch lives.
Above all, Vanessia treasured her family. She was a devoted wife, a proud and loving mother and Nana, a committed sister, an amazing Auntie, and a loyal friend. She wore each title with honor and joy. Known as the official maker of the family’s famous potato salad, she helped create countless memories around the table. Sunday family dinners and cookouts will never be the same without her presence, laughter, and love. Her family was her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment.
Vanessia leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband and “road dawg” of over 40 years, Tyrone, Sr; her beloved son, her “Junebug,” Ty Jr. and his wife Tiffany; and her treasured grandbabies, Jaylen and Jakari. She is also survived by her brothers, Denson Hill and Rodney Wilson (of TN); her very best friend, Mary Brown, a host of nieces and nephews; her in-laws along with many cousins and dear friends.
A viewing will be held on February 26, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Greater Love Tabernacle, 101 Nightingale Street, Boston. The funeral service will immediately follow. Interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Hyde Park.
Vanessia was a beautiful soul whose light touched everyone blessed to know her. She will be deeply and forever missed.
