

Deborah Ann (Furtado) Bowling, age 68, of Dartmouth died peacefully on Monday, July 27, 2015 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of John J. Bowling with whom she celebrated 47 years of marriage on June 15th.
Born in Acushnet, MA, the daughter of the late Sylvester and Helen (Francis) Furtado, she spent her early years in New Bedford before moving to Dartmouth 43 years ago. She graduated from New Bedford High School in 1965 and worked for over 25 years as a School Bus Driver for Tremblay Bus Company, before retiring in 2000.
Deb was an active communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church, and a devoted member of the Prayer Group at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. She and her husband spent 31 years travelling all over the country in their motor home. She loved shopping and was known for her kind heart and a smile that could light up a room.
In addition to her husband, she leaves two sons, Michael A. Bowling of Dartmouth and Christopher J. Bowling and his wife Michelle A. of Dartmouth; a daughter Gillian L. Bowling of Brooklyn, NY; two granddaughters, Isabella M. Bowling and Rachel L. Roman; and a brother, Randolph Furtado of Fairhaven.
Her Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 9:00 am from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth with a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am in St. Julie Billiart Church, Dartmouth followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Bedford. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm.
