She was born in Dorchester, graduated from Boston College and received a master’s degree from Phoenix University. She also served 24 years in the United States Air Force and enjoyed traveling the world. After retiring, she was involved with Meals on Wheels in Delaware before moving to the Cape where she spent several years at JTec as a liaison between local businesses and the unemployed.
She is survived by five step daughters, Moira Nickrosz and her husband Dr. Lester Nickrosz of Dartmouth, Fintan McManus of Australia, Philomena Coyne, Ina Mulrooney and Joan McCormack all of Ireland; numerous step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren; and numerous O’Brien and Hickey cousins.
Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Saturday July 26, 2014 in St. Mary’s Church, 783 Dartmouth St., So. Dartmouth. Burial will be private. Donations in her memory may be made to the Harwich Fire & Rescue Dept., 175 Sisson Rd, Harwich, MA 02645.
