

surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Maria dos Anjos (Cabral) whom he
shared 51 years of marriage.
The son of Jose and Geraldina (Cabral) Pacheco, he was born in Sao Miguel, Azores where he grew up and served in the Portuguese military before coming to America in 1971.
In his younger days he had a passion for music, particularly playing his saxophone.
Al was self-employed as a lifelong painter, where he established his career/talent in his hometown country and later worked as a shipyard manager for Newport ShipYard until his retirement in 2008.
He was a true sports fan. He enjoyed watching soccer and was a dedicated fan of the Sporting CP team. He also enjoyed watching hockey, especially rooting for the hometown Boston Bruins.
He was an avid Catholic and a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church where he sang in the church choir for many years and served as a eucharistic minister.
Above all, his greatest love and accomplishment was his family. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Susan Bessette and her husband Todd,
Clifford Amaral and his wife Melissa, and Jessie Almeida and her husband Jeff all of Dartmouth;
six grandchildren, Jacob, Luke, Ethan, Ava, Emma, and Payton; siblings, José Vergilio
Pacheco, and Paulita Pacheco; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be Thursday, February 16, 2023 at 9 a.m. from the WARING-SULLIVAN
HOME at DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth followed by a Mass of Christian
Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Rivet St., New Bedford. Burial will be in
South Dartmouth Cemetery, Elm St, Dartmouth. Visitation Wednesday 5-8 p.m.
