

Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, the eldest daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (Melo) Sousa, she grew up in Sao Miguel before moving to Massachusetts. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
Mrs. Costa was a seamstress for Shawmut Mills for many years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her family, especially her two granddaughters.
Surviving in addition to her husband; son, Michael Costa and his wife Anna of Walpole; three sisters, Natalie Pavao and Margaret Rocha both of Dartmouth, and Vangie Gomes of Florida; two granddaughters, Mia and Laura; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Beatrice Carreiro and Manuel Sousa.
Her funeral will be Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 9:30 am in WARING-SULLIVAN at DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 am in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Rivet St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in South Dartmouth Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 4-7 pm.
