Maria da Nazare Ferreira Salgueiro

Maria da Nazare Ferreira Salgueiro, 91, of Acushnet, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home with her family at her bedside. She was the wife of the late Antonio do Nascimento Salgueiro.

Maria da Nazare was born May 20, 1929, in Porto de Mos, Portugal, to the late Norberto Antonio and Maria da Nazare (Franco) Ferreira. Maria was a longtime resident of Dartmouth and a devout and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Family was everything to her. She enjoyed trips to the beach, riding on jet skis, and going on long walks. She was a voracious reader and loved working on puzzles with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also a passionate Benfica fan, setting everything aside to support her favorite soccer team. She loved to travel, especially to her hometown of Porto de Mos, and her fashion-sense was ahead of her time.

Maria is survived by her children, Julieta Ferreira of New Bedford, Karmi Nascimento-Alahmar of Acushnet, and Anthony Ferreira Nascimento and his wife Sandy of Mattapoisett; five grandchildren, Jennifer Byrne, Jillian Pulkowski, Justin Nascimento, Travis Alahmar, and Kristin Nascimento; four great-grandchildren, Sienna, Juliet, Milan, and Christian; her siblings and their spouses, Emilia Fonseca of Corredoura, Portugal, Carminda Pedro of Dartmouth, and Augusto Ferreira of Dartmouth. She was the sister of the late Joao Ferreira. She is also survived by several adoring nieces and nephews.
