Born in Agua de Pau St. Michael Azores, a daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Rodrigues) Vieira, she was a graduate of New Bedford High School.
Maria worked as an administrative assistant. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards, games, and going to the casinos.
She is survived by her children, Jay Nunes and his wife MaryAnn and Kimbally Reimels both of Dartmouth; four grandchildren, Jacob and Alden Reimels and Jessica and Sarah Nunes; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Silvino Pimentel and Carlos Vieira.
