

Paul Bannon, 83, of South Dartmouth, MA peacefully passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024 at home, with his family by his bedside. He was the beloved husband of Rosemary (Petrolia) Bannon, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage.
Born in Dumont, NJ, he was the son of the late George Edward and Theresa (Murter) Bannon.
Paul was a graduate of Holy Trinity High School and proudly served the Englewood Cliffs, NJ Police Department, retiring as a Lieutenant after 25 years. He was a past President of the NJ State PBA and served in the Honor Guard and Mutual Aid. He was a rifle instructor at the NJ Police Academy. He was a past Exalted Ruler in the Lacey Elks, Forked River, NJ. Paul was known for his faithfulness to God and family and his actions spoke louder than words. He was involved with the Knights of Columbus, Assembly No. 1727, in Lehigh Acres, FL, and was recognized as a 4th Degree Knight in 2009. Paul did a lot of charity work for the Catholic church including volunteering for the St. Raphael Fall Festival, Bingo, and many other parish needs. Working to help with the Special Olympics and Veterans was especially important to Paul.
In addition to his wife, Rosemary, he is survived by his loving children, Jennifer Ann Bannon and her partner David McArthur of NJ, Rosemary “Roey” Ann Pimentel and her husband Gene of Dartmouth, MA, Paul Frederick Bannon and his fiancé Julie Agramonte of NJ, and Steven Michael Bannon and his wife Tracey Luggiero of MD; nine grandchildren, Amy, Kimberly, Zachary, Jane, Justin, Kathryn, Paul, Samuel, and Joseph; four great-grandchildren, Emily, Vincent, Alex, and Ryan; and many nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by several of his siblings, George Edward in 2003, Mary Jane (Scheuerman) in 2014, Bernadette Marie (Giuffre) in 2013, Alicia Ann (Pepe) in 1996, Kathryn (Spring) in 2017, Teresa Rose (Toeppe) in 2002, John Eugene in 2008, and Martin Joseph in 2018. He is survived by siblings Francis Gerard of CO, Julia Aileen (Wagenti) of GA, Josephine May (Schoenfeld) of NJ, and Thomas William of NM.
Paul will be remembered for his kindness, good nature, humor, selflessness, and generosity and will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
His Visitation will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024 from 8:00AM – 9:30AM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME AT DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd, Dartmouth, MA 02748, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 795 Dartmouth St., South Dartmouth, MA, Burial in St. John’s Cemetery, 664 Allen St., New Bedford, MA 02740.
