Pearl M. (Thibeault) Cabral, 86, of South Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 3, 2025, at home, surrounded by loved ones. She was the wife of the late William “Bill” Cabral and will be remembered as a loving, kind, caring, and supportive mother and Mémère.
Born in New Bedford, Pearl was the daughter of the late Arthur and Beatrice (LeBlanc) Thibeault and was a lifelong resident of Dartmouth. She dedicated her early years to raising her five children before transitioning to a fulfilling career in retail as they grew older. A devoted wife, she strongly supported her husband’s remarkable selflessness and dedication to numerous community service initiatives in Dartmouth and New Bedford. She also played an active role in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating many cherished memories.
Pearl held fond memories of growing up at Lincoln Park—spending time at her parents’ pony rink as a child and at the roller rink as a teenager. She traveled nationally, earning numerous awards for her roller-skating talents. She often reminisced about a childhood filled with music, dancing, roller skating, and horseback riding. Proud of her French-Canadian heritage, she had a deep love for Canada, Prince Edward Island, and Anne of Green Gables. She enjoyed going to the beach, shopping, and attending yard sales with her family, as well as savoring lobster dinners, fish and chips, and pastries. Passionate about fashion, she loved seeing others look their best and wear her favorite color, brown—especially on her favorite show, Project Runway. Above all else, Pearl treasured time spent with her family.
She is survived by her children: Christopher Cabral of Dartmouth; Gina King of Dartmouth; Jennifer Cabral and her life partner, Wayne Henrique, of Fall River; Venna Cabral and her wife, Lara, of Billerica; and Vicki Jorge of New Bedford. She is also survived by her grandchildren: David Costa; Erica Shove and her husband, Ryan; Karissa Jorge; Scott King and his wife, Sarah; and Ryan King. In addition, she leaves behind three great-grandchildren: Tyson Oliveira, Anderson Costa, and Myah Oliveira. She was the sister of the late Beatrice Philoman Bissalion, Philias Fontaine, Fabiola Vigeant, and Earl Thibeault and is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Pearl’s honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00PM with a Memorial Service at 6:00PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd, Dartmouth, MA 02748. To leave a note of condolence, please visit: www.waring-sullivan.com.
