Obituario de Andrew Mitchell Stidsen
EN EL CUIDADO DE

Doane Beal & Ames

Andrew Mitchell Stidsen, 83, of East Dennis, MA passed away peacefully at the Lily House in Wellfleet, MA on November 22, 2025. A devoted husband, he is survived by his wife of 50 years, Deborah Clarke Stidsen. Drew also leaves behind his brother Greg (Andrea) Stidsen and his sister Susan (Joe) Nerkowski, and his sisters-in-law, Kate McHugh, Christine Metcalfe, and Gail Clarke. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews of whom he was very proud. He was predeceased by his brother Donald Stidsen.

Drew was born on October 1, 1942, in Worcester, MA to Andrew and Isabelle Stidsen. He graduated from Classical High School in 1960 and went on to graduate from Worcester State College in 1964 and over the years he obtained two Master’s Degrees, one in education and one in administration. After college he entered the United States Navy and achieved the rank of ensign. He was assigned to the USS Shangri-La and served with distinction in the Mediterranean theater. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he started his teaching career. He taught science at the secondary level mostly at Worcester East Middle School and Forrest Grove Middle School. After a long and fulfilling career, he retired in 2001, and he and Deborah moved out of central MA and into their summer home on Cape Cod.

He enjoyed retirement playing golf and walking five miles every day. In retirement, he and Deborah continued doing antique shows and flea markets all around New England. He specialized in antique tools and became an expert on hand tools.

An accomplished artist, he excelled in both oil and watercolor, showing in galleries and art shows. When winters on Cape Cod became too long and too cold, he and Deborah would travel down to Jupiter, FL to spend the winter and enjoy antiquing and painting while there.

Drew had a rich life and will be missed by family and friends. Services for Drew will be private and held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tunnel to Towers, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306 or The Lily House, PO Box 1818, Wellfleet, MA 02667.
