

Arthur Ralph Lunden of Dennis, Massachusetts passed away on March 25, 2023. Art was the son of Ralph and Bertha Lunden, born March 29, 1933, raised in East Longmeadow, MA. He married Carol Ann Gagne on July 13,1957 and they raised three beautiful daughters in Uncasville, CT and Cape Cod.
Art was a graduate of the American International College in Springfield, MA and of Wesleyan University in Middleton, CT with a Masters degree. He became a gifted teacher for 29 years at Montville High School, Montville, CT. He taught mathematics, driver’s education, coached golf and served on the Board of Education. After retirement from teaching, he went on to coach golf at Mitchell College in New London, CT. During his lifetime, he enjoyed many hobbies. He was passionate about golf, loved his model trains, built model cars and ships. He enjoyed flying his remote airplanes and kites, woodworking, bicycling, kayaking, and sailing. He sang with a Barbershop chorus, The Sea Notes, traveling to nursing homes and other gatherings around New London, CT and was active in the Cape Cod Summer Baseball League with the Brewster White Caps. A lover of golf, he retired to Conway, South Carolina to spend his days golfing and walking the beaches and the River Walk. Art was strong in his faith; he participated in men’s groups, sang in choirs and enjoyed helping others. He returned to Dennis in 2020.
Art is predeceased by his wife of 25 years, Carol Ann Lunden, his sisters, Marjorie Poole, Joyce Croisier, Irma Clark, and his brother, Kenneth Lunden who died fighting in WW II. He is survived by his three daughters, Lisa Curren, Andrea Lunden, and Kristen Lunden, his four grandchildren, Brian Jalbert, Nikole Houser, Carol Ann Shovelier, and Gabe Jackson, and by his devoted companion of 12 years, Sandra Bakun, his brother in law, Dana Clark and his second wife Marion Lunden, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Art was quick witted and always ready for a good laugh. He was passionate about education and his love for God. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and those who knew him.
Service will be held at Brewster Baptist Church where he was a longtime member, 1848 Main Street Brewster, MA 02631 on March 31, 2023 at 11am.
