Domenic Peter Silvi of South Dennis passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family after a valiant battle with cancer on Sunday, May 28, 2023. Born in Norwood to the late Domenic and Anna Silvi, he was a long-time resident of Walpole, MA where he raised his family with wife Deanna (Dee). In his 80 years, he touched the lives of many with his wit and charm, and larger- than life personality.
Dom attended Walpole High School and went on to receive his Associate’s Degree at Burdett College in marketing. He also attended Northeastern University majoring in marketing. After obtaining his degree, he went into regional sales and radio promotion in the music industry working for over 30 years with many music distributors and labels including Capital Records, Mango, Koch, and VIP. He was a constant at many Boston based music stores such as Strawberries, Tower Records, and Newbury Comics. Known as the “Dom-inator,” he brought his passion for all music genres and people into every business transaction. Dom possessed a deep and lasting love and knowledge for all types of music, from classical to reggae, and could name the artist, label, and year of any song. Music was always playing in Dom’s life, in the car, at home, outside on his porch, and even during his last days.
Dom pursued many interests throughout his life with great energy and enthusiasm. He was an avid photographer and could always be found with one of his many Nikons strapped around his neck. His camera was an extension of him and how he connected with others. He was drawn to capture the world around him. Always snapping countless pictures during family gatherings, saying, “One more! One more!” Dom and Dee loved to travel and looked forward to their adventures together every year. Their travels took them to Russia, Italy, Portugal, Norway, and many of the Caribbean Islands. Over the years, the island of St. Martin and Provincetown, MA became their all-time favorite places where they enjoyed the incredible food, beaches, and people. Dom was a remarkable cook and absolutely loved feeding his family and friends. If you stepped into their house, he would create something delicious for you, even if you weren’t hungry. With his great sense of humor, and the gift of gab, he would entertain everyone for hours with lively conversation about politics, movies, books, and music.
Above all, Dom was most passionate about his family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He could often be found at school and sporting events for his grandsons, camera in hand, or challenging them in tennis and ping pong. He took great care of those he loved and would drop everything to be of service to others or to have a chat. Dom had an enormous open heart and shared his love with everyone who crossed his path.
Dom is survived by his wife Deanna, who he shared 57 years of marriage; his son Scott and Pam Simes; his daughter Christina Silvi and Paul Ginns; his grandchildren Jacob and Lucas; his brothers David; Paul and his wife Joan; his sister Roberta Seabrook and husband Bill; and his late sister, Geraldine. He also leaves behind many beloved nephews, nieces, extended family, and dear friends.
