Donald Irving Craft

Don was born on August 19, 1934 to the late Alma and Harold Craft in Ballston Spa, N.Y. He spent his

early years in Ballston Spa graduating from high school in 1953. Don achieved the rank of life boy scout

while in the scouting program in Ballston Spa. Before attending college, Don was a member of the Air

National Guard in Schenectady N.Y. Don attended SUNY Canton College where he was president of his

fraternity, Alpha Theta Gamma. Upon graduation from college in 1957, he joined G.E plastics division in

Pittsfield MA., where he was a technical marketing specialist until his retirement in 1990. He loved the

outdoors and enjoyed salt water fishing, camping, hiking, sailing and skiing. He was a member of the Mount

Greylock ski club where he was the director of the ski school for several years. He was a member of Our

Lady of the Cape church and also Sacred Heart church of Pittsfield, MA.

He is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart of 54 ½ years, Dorothy Stevens Craft. He is also

survived by his children Peter, Michael and his wife Maria, and Christopher and his wife Jeanna all of

Pittsfield, MA. Don also has three grandchildren Morgan, Michaela and Jeffery. In addition to his children

he is survived by his brother Allen Craft and his wife Ann of Ballston Spa. N.Y. and his sister Sandra

Matthews and her husband Edward Matthews of Setauket, N.Y. and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2011 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Doane, Beals & Ames funeral

Home at 729 Route 134, South Dennis, MA. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday March 11,

2011 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Cape in Brewster, MA.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Our Lady of the Cape church or Hospice of the Cape in South

Dennis, MA. in Don’s memory through the funeral home.
