Edna G. Jackman

Jackman, Edna G., 98, of Dennis, formerly of Taunton, passed away on July 12, 2016. Beloved wife of the late Chester I. Jackman, devoted mother of Patricia A. Jackman of South Easton and late son Chester A. Jackman, caring sister of Mary McLaughlin of Newport Beach, CA, Sophie Sheehan of Miami, FL, Helen Naylor of Plymouth, MA. Cherished grandmother of Julia Jackman and her wife Theresa Smithey, Wayne Jackman and his wife Cindy; loving great grandmother of Brandon Jackman also several nieces and nephews. Edna is predeceased by brothers: John, Joseph, Paul, and Peter.

Edna was very proud of her nursing career. She began her career at Taunton State Hospital after graduating from their school of nursing. She remained working for the Mass Department of Mental Health for her entire career. She had a desire to work in the community setting so she returned to college and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from SMU in Dartmouth at the age of 56. She continued to work in community mental health facilities in Middleboro and Pocasset, from which she retired at the age of 72.

She and her husband of forty years retired to Cape Cod, enjoying the quite life of gardening, bird watching and sunsets at the beach. Edna was also very involved in her church, singing in the choir well past her 80th year.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 18, 2016 from 9:00 - 10:30 AM at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 729 Rt. 134, South Dennis, MA. A Funeral Mass in her honor will be held on Monday, July 18, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Cape Church, 468 Stony Brook Rd., Brewster, MA. Burial will follow at Dennis Village Cemetery, Dennis.
