He was born in Annapolis on November 24, 1954. His love of the Chesapeake led him to stellar crabbing while growing up, and he often went back there to partake of those “jumbos” with his beloved wife. He eventually settled on Cape Cod where he enjoyed his love of the sea. In addition, he was an avid and talented photographer and exceptional finish painter. Most importantly, Ferran was the most kind and loving person; good to the bone.
He met his wife, Debbie Crockett, at the now-closed Ryles Jazz Club in Cambridge in the early 1990s, where they both lived at the time. They were married in Pontresina, Switzerland, in 1994, where she was planning an alpine wedding for a client. They travelled extensively all over the world, experiencing the best the hospitality industry had to offer.
He leaves his wife, Debbie Crockett-Rice, his beloved Maine Coon cat, Daisy, and three sisters, Bonnie Randall, and Holly and Kim Rice. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Sandy, who died in the USS Forrestal fire in 1967.
To honor Ferran’s love of animals, memorial contributions may be sent to the Animal Rescue League of Boston, 3981 Main St., Brewster, MA 02631. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 21st at 1 PM at Dennis Union Church, 713 Main St., Dennis, MA 02638.
