Francis “Frank” P. Nones, 91, of South Dennis, MA passed away peacefully on Friday, March 7, 2025 surrounded by loved ones. Born on January 2,1934, he was the son of Manual and Emily (Luce) Nones. His only sister Amy (Nones) Guinn predeceased him.
Frank leaves behind the love of his life, his wife of 61 years, Theresa L. (Coleman) Nones, his daughter Mary-Frances (Nones) Goodell of Duxbury, MA, daughter Catherine (Nones) Wolniewicz of Naperville, IL, son Francis Nones and his wife Heather of Marshfield, MA, and son Jonathan Nones and wife Stephanie of Seattle, WA. He also leaves behind 10 beautiful grandchildren: Kellie, Shayla, Bella, Kendall, Kara, Matthew, Chloe, Jaiden, Brody, and Blake. His favorite name was “Pepe” which was given to him by his first grandchildren (twins) and he proudly kept.
After high school graduation, Frank enlisted in the United States Air Force. During the Korean War, he was stationed in Japan as a radio specialist from 1952-1956. He was especially proud of his service to his country. His Air Force background led him to get his pilot’s license later in life where he would often take his family on trips to Maine, and to visit family in Middletown RI much to the chagrin of his mother.
After marriage, Frank and Terry moved to Mansfield, MA. Frank graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. He worked for the Foxboro Company from 1967-1988, and later moved to St. Louis, MO where he started the St. Louis branch of the R.E. Pedrotti Company retiring to the Cape in 2002. His job was to design and sell the instrumentation that regulated wastewater treatment plants.
Frank had a true passion for many things including woodworking. In 1972, he started his own company called “Wood Things”, which he ran for 7 years. His other true passion was golf. He was the president of the Foxboro Country Club and the Players Club in St. Louis. His wife often joked that he should be buried with his golf clubs. In his prime years, he boasted a handicap of 2. Later in life, he took up gardening and cooking, and we all can attest to his wonderful pies.
Frank was most passionate about all things sports, sports, and more sports. He coached both his sons in hockey and baseball. He tried never to miss a game for his kids or grandkids even watching online. His first question to anyone was “What sports do you play”?
Husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Frank will be dearly missed. His love and legacy will live on through his children and grandchildren whom he loved with all his heart.
Visiting Hours will take place from 4-8 PM on Thursday, March 27th at Doane, Beal & Ames, 729 Route 134, South Dennis, MA 02660. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM on Friday, March 28th at Our Lady of the Cape, Brewster followed by a burial at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
